It’s like my mind & heart
Are not connected,
What’s felt in the heart
Will never be projected.
All these lose wires
Make me look heartless
And Plato once quoted
‘Love is a serious mental illness’
They speak different languages
My heart asks for romance,
But my mind backs away
Before I advance.
Maybe I didn’t return
From previous heartache
My mind doesn’t want to relive
Those terrible mistakes.
My brain has not heart
And my heart has no brain,
They need to meet halfway
Before I turn insane.
Trying to connect the dots
But there’s no picture,
A haunted mind
With a romantic heart
Is a tragic mixture.
K
This is a beautiful piece.
Something I was in a need for reading this morning
in my own frame of mind.

Katrina, you have some serious emotions moving though this verse.
The power is not in your rhyme, it is in the thoughts your express.
Your gift / talent doesn’t need to force the rhyme scheme
because it makes light of the deep struggles.
And still I want to read it over again.
